With television, radio, Internet and other forms of media, we are all constantly inundated by many companies promoting their Fast Food as the best.
Some Fast Facts on Fast Food:
1. High fat and sodium content
2. Grease
3. Lower nutrition value
4. Increased chances of weight gain
Yes, it tastes good, and looks good, but, the truth of the matter, it’s not good. The body needs food to sustain itself. Besides the taste and how good it looks, the only good thing about Fast Food is that it’s fast and convenient. You are going down the highway on a trip and everyone is hungry. So you stop at the nearest Fast Food joint to satisfy everyone’s hunger. You pay the place, eat and then you are gone. But, also is the nutrition factor. There is only one way to say this, “Garbage in garbage out”. In 1992, my wife and I stopped at a local Fast Food restaurant because we were hungry. It was quite a few years since we even had any of this kind of food. Not more than 45 minutes after we were done eating, we both felt sick from the food. We both immediately realized why we were sick. It was the grease from the food. I challenge you to try something — Stop eating Fast Food for several months, then have some and see what you think. You should get the point. Oh, yes, everyone eats it, but, that doesn’t make it good for you. Here is a crude comparison — in the previous article, I mentioned that Soda was nothing more than “liquid candy”. Well, Fast Food could be described as “Candied Food”. Looks and tastes good, but not good for you. Candy tastes good, but is not good for you. It’s the same thing. We’re all putting stuff in us that isn’t doing anything for us. Isn’t it time to change the course and live better?….. You decide.

Whether you are just starting out to loosing weight, or you’ve been making progress, over the course of your efforts, you are learning new things about how to get you from where you were, to where you want to be. This is not always an easy road to tread. It doesn’t matter how overweight or underweight you are. Cutting back, controlling your portions and taking vitamins / supplements are only part of the solution.
Unless you are trying to gain weight, you should consider some way to increase your activity. Even if you are working on gaining weight, exercise at some level is always good. By increasing your activity, whether it be running (my favorite), walking, riding bike, or even joining a gym, you’ll be increasing the effort to burn those calories. So, by making this choice, here is what you are doing:
1. Eating right (portion control and watching the types of food you are eating)
2. Taking supplements / vitamins
3. Exercise / increased activity
You’ve now started a brand new way of living, thus, enter a new lifestyle of fitness which will bring about a whole new you. After a while, you’ll begin to look back and say good bye to the old you that you once new. Now the list above, is only the beginning or a good starting point. You can pick and choose later what works best for you as you learn your way in this new lifestyle. Remember, it is a lifestyle and not a “diet”.

No pain no gain
Now, if you are trying to gain weight, there are products/supplements available to help you in this direction. While portion control would not be an issue where, you would still want to be aware of how much you are taking in, especially when you start gaining weight so as not to over shoot your goals.
A brief on Portion Control:
Why is Portion Control so important? Well, for one thing, without it, all your other efforts would be a waist of time. You would be just spinning your wheels which will get you nowhere.

Everyone has a number, even you! That is a number that equals how much weight one wants to loose. My number was 22.5. With effort and determination, I was able to change that number to 10.2 (pounds that is). Don’t think you are overweight and that you should be ok? Regardless where you may be, why not find out where you stand? Take your BMI now and see what’s up with you? Taking your BMI is FREE and available for your use every day. Check it out.
The best time of the day to weigh yourself is right away in the morning. Throughout the day, your weight could vary and may not show the true you.
Ok, your number is low you say, like 5? Well, what you need to think about and remember is that you want to reach your goal and maintain yourself. Who wants to be a yo yo? That yo yo can only get momentum and get bigger if you don’t watch out.

So, by figuring out where you stand, you can decide what action to take. If you are low or in normal weight range, then you can choose Weight Management. If you are high or overweight, then you choose a Weight Loss Program. Now, if you are underweight, you can also build yourself up. Herbalife has options for weight gain as well!
