Just a funny and appropriate way to begin this post. While I do need more improvement from the
2 month break I had, I have made an interesting but real discovery about my running. I have always had a basic understanding of just how fast I could run. But, after the last two afterburner runs that I did, I have found that I am learning how to run even faster than before. At age 46, this is amazing for me. So, I have some investigating to do. I need to find out just how fast I can run and how far I can keep the speed going. I’m hoping there is something to this and I’m not imagining it. There is one common denominator that could be the answer. For the last year, I’ve been using Herbalife products faithfully. I’ve not been able to run like this until now. As I was into my afterburner run today, I saw or felt myself gaining speed in phases during the run. I didn’t even feel my legs tiring from the sprint. The only reason I stopped was because the end of the road was coming soon. I may be doing a race in September after all.

Ok, now I am going to change rolls here a little bit and it’s for your benefit and not mine. I’m going to play the roll of your conscience and ask you some questions for you to ponder:

Are you just browsing around having a good time and doing some occasional reading?
Are you a little more serious than others, looking for something specific?
Are you one that subscribed to the news feeds and read them without even returning to the site?
Are you one that just doesn’t know where to start and end up in a continual search?

First, I wrote about that you should not spare your efforts. Maintaining consistent effort is really important. Now, what you should not spare is also your hunger. Since this is about a change in lifestyle, you do not want to “starve” yourself to loose weight. If you are getting hungry and it isn’t time for your next meal, then, by all means have a snack. There are a lot of really good healthy snacks available today. Portion control should be one of your guides throughout your day. Have a protein bar or two to help you get to your next meal. You can also have fruit, celery sticks, carrots etc. Usually, I have no problem in making it between my morning shake and my shake I have for lunch. These Formula 1 Meal Replacement shakes come in several really great flavors. My favorite is the Cafe Latte. Once in a while I need a snack, but, it’s usually in the afternoon after my lunch time shake. If you have to starve yourself, it’s not worth it. After all, I’m not and I refuse to do that. This past January when I was really pushing myself to loose weight, I lost 7 pounds which I thought was great! None of my efforts included starvation, just portion control.

In another blog of mine, I wrote some articles using the above title line and thought it appropriate to use in this blog. In this case, What you should not spare is your efforts. Even if you have a bad couple of days, just pick up the pieces and get going. You need to stay consistent with your efforts and you will achieve you goals. A few bad days will not rock your boat. Remember that what you should be working on is a lifestyle and not a diet. Diets don’t work because they signify short term efforts. If your plan is to work a plan until you reach your goal and then return to how you used to be, you will return to how you used to be!

When starting a weight loss program or lifestyle change, consistency is what will get you your results. It may not come over night or even in a month. But, long term consistency will yield you your results. In some incidents, one’s body composition can have a lot to do with an individual’s results. In other words, you can’t compare yourself to someone Else’s success’s or failures. Staying with your efforts, is what is most important.
