Archive for January, 2008

My wife and I have been battling this issue for years it seams. We both have had are “UP’s” and “Down’s” with this subject. This is a subject that can be very sensative with people and rightfully so! My wife and I gained weight this winter with the holiday food that tends to tempt us all. Sure, you can discipline yourself so you only eat a certain amount or certain kinds of food. But, after a while it gets hard. Everyone else is eating what they want and you find that you can’t. This makes it harder. For me, my running keeps me in check. I know that when January gets here, I have to “get with the program”.
My wife on the other hand does not have something like running to keep her in check and therefore has a harder time.

There is so much information out there that it can be hard to know what to do about weight loss. I started to see the benefits of using Herbalife products last summer (2007) when I began to use the shake mixes and supplements. With that experience, I chose to really start my weight loss challenge right away when the new year started. If you were reading my posts, you’ve been seeing my progress. My wife is also working on the challenge as well. She has been a little discouraged, but, not defeated. Like I said, this can be a hard issue. Everyone would like weight loss to be fast and furious, but it isn’t like that. It’s taken me 26 days to loose 6 pounds, without exercising. I will be starting to run again soon for the purpose of getting the training going again. With the training that I do, the weight loss will increase with increased activity. But, as you can see, it is not necessary to loose weight with excersing although it does help!

If there is anyone reading this post that is considering some sort of weight loss effort, remember that loosing weight is not done with a diet, it’s done with a lifestyle cfhange. Diets don’t work, changes in lifestyle does. I will use Herbalife products for the rest of my life because they work and they taste great! When you find what works, you stick with it.

I don’t normally do this simply because it’s like watching a pot of water being heated. It never boils. Well, I decided to weigh myself again this morning. I lost 8 ounces, down from 181.8 to 181 — YES! Just one pound to go and I have met my April Goal and it’s still January! I’m having the best success ever with Herbalife! Loosing weight and increasing energy all at the same time. Since it is only January and I’m where I’m at with my weight, it will be very interesting to see where I am at this April! Man, I can harldy wait. This could end up being one of my best running years with my being with less weight. From April to October each year I run in 5k and 10k races. The neat thing about this weight loss is there isn’t much of a strugle with it. I wish I found this sooner. The meal replacement shakes are awesome! They make a mean cafe latte that I just can’t get enough of. Add Hershey’s syrup and make a mocha latte and then I’m in heaven! Oh Yes!
See, weight loss never tasted so good. I just love it!

Well, believe it or not, I actually thought I was going to be up in weight today. But, I actually lost 4 ounces. It wasn’t as good as a week as I hoped for. Current weight is 181.8 down from 182.2 from last week. We did splurge a little bit this past week and if you excuse the following saying “You are what you eat” or “You get what you pay for”.
In any case, it’s good to loose no matter how much it is. Also, in as far as my April goal is concerned, I’m just about there now and it’s not even February yet. One must continue to realize and accept that this is not a diet, but a lifestyle change.

One of the side benefits that I experienced when I lost weight in the past was how my back improved. Currently I am having back problems with my holiday induced weight. I do back exercises on the floor now and then. When I lost weight before, my back problems went away. Another one of my goals is to not only take the weight off, but keep it off. At age 46, I reached the point where I do NOT want to go through this again. It used to be harder for me to loose weight even with exercising and running. Now with Herbalife, the weight is coming off with little or no exercising. I am more than impressed. Don’t get me wrong, the more active you are, the more results you will get. I still plan on running this year. Which is part of my first weight goal of loosing up to 8 pounds by April. I’ve been running since April 1997 and I have never had the kind of results in weight loss that I am having now with Herbalife. It’s as simple as 3, 2 and 1. Take supplements 3 times a day, then have 2 meal replacement shakes a day – one for breakfast and one for lunch. then have a nice healthy meal for dinner. You’ll even notice increased energy.

This morning I did my usual weigh in and it only goes to prove that consistance pays off! All thanks to Herbalife! Since January 1st, 2008, I’ve lost 5 pounds. Starting weight was 187.2 and my current weight as of today was 182.2. So as far as my April wieght loss goal is concerned, I’ve only got a little over 2 pounds to go and it’s only mid-January!
I did treat myself yesterday as a reward for my efforts. You just need to remember that you don’t want to over-reward yourself.

I wanted to share that one of the things I do is I have a defined weigh in day for my weight loss challenge. I don’t follow the practice of weight myself every day or every other day. I think that is self defeating in that it puts unneeded pressure on you and one should be focused on the basics of the weight loss program rather than the weight on a daily basis. I do my weigh in first thing Friday morning. It’s just a day that I picked to do this. No specific reason for Fridays other than it’s the end of the week and a good time to see my progress. It’s also a good day to do this, that way if you have done really good, you can see how much or how less you have to be over the weekend. If one has done really good, you could possibly treat yourself. If not, well, then there is always next week.

As a runner, I get more and more strict as the months get closer to April. One would start letting their goals guide them so that each weigh in day would yeild desirable results. Yes, there are going to be days in which there was little or no progress. This is true regardless if you are a runner or not.

I am aware and realize that there are other weight loss programs out there. A good many of them have merrit. In my life, I have never tried a weight loss program before until now. Being a results oriented individual, I can only comment on Herbalife and not others. Herbalife not only works, it tastes good too! I am a runner, and with that comes other needs that I know that I can get with Herbalife. In addition to weight loss, I need energy, nutrition, & hydration. All my needs wrapped up in one place. I am more than just an Herbalife Distributor, I am one who uses and relies on the products that I sell. Quite simply, they work!

On january 1st, 2008, I decided to “get with it” and start my own weight loss challenge. I set two goals. 1.) Lose up to 8 pounds by April 2008. 2.) In addition to the 8 pounds, lose 15 pounds more. I’ve been following what Herbalife has to offer in losing weight and from January 1st, to January 11th, 2008, I lost 3 pounds. So I am already almost half way to my first goal. One of the neatest things about this, there is no struggling when it comes to the deit part. The meal replacement shakes taste great and are not meant to be a starvation diet. All I am doing is having a shake in the morning for breakfast, then one for lunch. For dinner, I have a nice healthy meal. Also, I am taking supplements and having a healthy snack during the day if I need it. As in any weight loss program, the more active you are, the more results you will get. I run in 5k and 10k races from April to October every year and the leaner I am the faster I will be. I am determined to be the leanest I’ve been in a long time. My starting weight on January 1st was 187 pounds and I am striving for 165 pounds overall goal. As I’ve been using Herbalife products, I’ve come to know that they work! So, I know that I will acheive my goals this year.

Before starting to use Herbalife products, I had to rely on anything I found locally. While finding products locally was convenient, that is all it was, convenient. Up until this past September, my alergies ruled me every summer. Thanks to Herbalife, that is no longer the case. Nothing I found locally done for me what Herbalife is doing. Also, I have been able to either maintain or lose weight thanks to the very delisious meal replacement shakes. I especially like the cafe latte. As a runner, I take great value in the products that I use from Herbalife. I can’t say enough about these products except to say that, if you haven’t tried any, you gotta!
